UFC on Fox 9’s Nik Lentz: ‘I was a complete waste of talent at 155 pounds’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC on Fox 9 featherweight Nik Lentz as he prepares for his main card bout tonight (Dec. 14, 2013) against Chad Mendes at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.

The former Minnesota-based fighter credits the huge improvements he’s made in recent performances to the big changes he’s made in his training, coaches, lifestyle and location:

“I wasn’t performing the way I wanted to and I knew the Nik Lentz that was showing up to fights wasn’t the same Nik Lentz that was there in training. I was coming in weak. I was coming in way overtrained. I always overtrained myself and I wasn’t cutting weight right. I didn’t have the best coaches or the best people in my ears at all time. I switched everything. I moved to American Top Team, I completely moved to Florida, I changed weight classes, got a new nutritionist Mike Dolce. I say it all the time, I was a complete waste of talent at 155 pounds and now that I’m at 145 pounds, you’re seeing  what it should have been.”
