MMAOddsBreaker Rankings Update – UFC Lightweight Division

mma, ufc, ufc on espn 9, rankings, fighters, flyweight, brandon royval, tim elliott

Moving forward, I’ll be sharing an updated list of rankings in some of the most affected weight classes following UFC events. I’ll be basing my rankings according to the UFC rules and sharing one the rankings I submit for the UFC following each event. The UFC ranks 16 fighters in each weight class, one champion at the top, then the next 15, unless the division has no champion.

Following UFC on ESPN 9, here are my updated UFC flyweight rankings.

     Men’s Flyweight division

  1. Deiveson Figueiredo
  2. Joseph Benavidez
  3. Brandon Moreno
  4. Jussier Formiga
  5. Alexandre Pantoja
  6. Askar Askarov
  7. Rogerio Bontorin
  8. Alex Perez
  9. Brandon Royval NR
  10. Tim Elliott (-1)
  11. Matt Schnell (-1)
  12. Kai Kara-France (-1)
  13. Raulian Paiva (-1)
  14. David Dvorak (-1)
  15. Jordan Espinosa (-1)
Brandon Royval made a stellar UFC debut, surviving a wild scramble-heavy first round to bounce back and finish veteran Tim Elliott with an arm triangle choke in the second round, which also netted him and Elliott a “Fight of the Night” bonus. Royval looks like he could be a player in the division, and with only 18 eligible fighters to rank, he was an easy choice to jump immediately into the top 10.
