Betting Results Movers and Shakers for Combate Americas 47 in Monterrey

Combate Americas recently held its 47th event in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday. Here are the betting results of the fights, as explained by MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas.

Alejandro Flores opened -220 and closed -275
Marco Elpidio opened +170 and closed +215

I’m glad the line opened a little high because the public still bet it up a bit. In a highly anticipated bout between two prospects, Flores proved to be better, neutralizing Elpidio’s attack and taking a convincing unanimous decision victory. The sportsbooks lost small because more action came in on Flores.

Emmanuel Rivero opened +260 and closed +250
Ricardo Arreola opened -380 and closed -325

I was almost wrong on this one. People were betting the dog Rivero because he had knockout power, even with Arreola being a much more dangerous ground fighter. When this fight stayed standing, Rivero got the better of the striking exchanges, hurting Arreola for the first half of the fight. I thought Arreola would get this fight to the floor a lot quicker, but thankfully Rivero dropped to the floor for a heel hook and was quickly countered and submitted after a poor fight IQ moment. The sportsbooks were fortunate to score a decent win because most of the action was on Rivero.

Criszaida Adames opened -350 and closed 370
Alma Céspedes opened +250 and closed +275

Early on the action dropped, but they came back the other way on Adames. I didn’t think there was much value on Cespedes and Adames proved to be clearly the better fighter at this stage in their careers. Cespedes was game, but Adames was on another level as she cruised to a clear and one-sided decision. The sportsbooks pretty much broke even on this bout.

Ernesto Quiroga  opened +115 and closed +150
Ivan Perez opened -145 and closed -180

Quiroga was doing damage early in this fight from top position, but moments later, Perez scored a rear naked choke to secure a fast finish. The betting public was victorious in this one, handing the sportsbooks a small loss.

Ana Palacios opened -210 and closed -150
Lezly Compeán opened +165 and closed +130

Palacios got bet up early, but Compean’s action got pounded later, moving her underdog line a significant amount by the time the line was pulled. Similar to the Adames vs Cespedes women’s fight, Palacios was able to neutralize Compean’s hype and take a clear one-sided decision, winning all three rounds and even taking a 10-8 round. The sportsbooks won decent on this fight.

Overall, it was a slightly profitable evening for the sportsbooks for Combate Americas 47. The next Combate event is November 1 in Garland, Texas.
