MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Aljamain Sterling vs. Rani Yahya set for UFC Fresno

UFC officials announced Wednesday that Aljamain Sterling will face Rani Yahya at UFC Fight Night 123 on Dec. 9 at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, Calif.

Sterling (14-2) heads into this matchup off back-to-back victories including a decision win over former bantamweight chapion Renan Barao. The 28-year-old has gone 6-2 in the octagon since starting his UFC career in 2014. Yahya (24-9, 1 NC) has won five of his last six fights including a submission victory over Enrique Briones at UFC Fight Night 114 in September. The 32-year-old has only lost once since 2014.

Vicente Luque replaces Luan Chagas against Niko Price at UFC Sao Paulo

Combate reports that Vicente Luque will face Niko Price at next week’s UFC Fight Night 119 card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The 25-year-old replaces Luan Chagas who was forced out of this fight due to injury.

Luque (11-6-1) had his four-fight win streak snapped in his last fight when he suffered a unanimous decision setback to Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 107 in March. The Ultimate Fighter Season 21 contestant boasts all of his UFC wins by stoppage. Price (10-0, 1 NC) is coming off a first-round TKO victory over Alan Jouban at UFC Fight NIght 114 in September. The 28-year-old has only gone the distance once in his 10-fight career. Here’s an updated look at the card.
