UFC 207 Opening Odds for Dominick Cruz vs Cody Garbrandt

Dominick CruzDate: December 30, 2016 Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Venue: T-Mobile Arena Broadcast: PPV The much-rumored bantamweight title matchup between champion Dominick Cruz (22-1) and unbeaten challenger Cody Garbrandt (10-0) has become a reality as the co-main event at UFC 207 in Las Vegas on December 30th. MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas has made the 31-year-old Cruz a solid -195 favorite (bet $195 to win $100) against the 25-year-old Garbrandt, who opened as a +160 underdog (bet $100 to win $160) at Several Bookmakers sportsbook. There has been a lot of speculation about who Cruz would fight next after dominating long-time rival Urijah Faber via unanimous decision at UFC 199 on June 4. Former champ TJ Dillashaw and No. 1 contender has been demanding a rematch ever since he suffered a controversial split-decision loss and lost his belt to Cruz back on January 17th. Dillashaw rebounded from that defeat with a UD win over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200 on July 9th. Garbrandt is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Takeya Mizugaki and Thomas Almeida, which immediately vaulted him into the title conversation. He is currently ranked as the No. 6 contender at 135 pounds by the UFC behind Dillashaw, John Lineker, Assuncao, Jimmie Rivera and Bryan Caraway, respectively. Cruz is riding a 13-fight winning streak that was put on pause on two different occasions due to serious knee injuries — in 2011 after he defeated current flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson via UD and again in 2014 following a first-round KO of Mizugaki — before he returned to face Dillashaw. He was forced to vacate the belt in early 2014, which was won by Renan Barao and later lost to Dillashaw. His lone career loss came against Faber in 2007. The line as well as the over/under total is posted below: ————————————————————- UFC Bantamweight Title
