Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 333 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 333 is a five-round UFC featherweight title bout between champion Alexander Volkanovski and challenger Movsar Evloev. Volkanovski is coming off back-to-back wins over Diego Lopes, where he reclaimed the 145 lbs title and defended it dominantly. As for Evloev, he is 20-0 in his MMA career and a perfect 10-0 in the UFC, with a notable win over Lerone Murphy in his last outing to finally secure the title shot at 145 lbs that he has long coveted. The oddsmakers opened up these odds very closely, with Volkanovski as only a small betting favorite over Evloev, who is getting tons of respect in the betting odds. This should be a great fight for as long as it lasts, and, as the odds indicate, it should be very competitive.
- In the co-main event, we have UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan battling rival Merab Dvalishvili in a trilogy bout. Yan won the pair’s first fight several years ago before Dvalishvili took care of business in the rematch with a dominant victory. Given how good Yan looked in the pair’s rematch just last year, he opened up as the favorite to win this trilogy bout, which makes total sense given how good he looked the last time these two men fought.
