Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 114 Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Vegas 114, we have a featherweight bout between Kevin Vallejos and Josh Emmett. Vallejos made his UFC debut last year, and he is 3-0 so far, including an impressive knockout win over Giga Chikadze in his last bout. As for Emmett, he has been one of the best featherweights in the sport for many years. But at age 41, and having lost four of his last five fights, there is no doubt Emmett has seen far better days. While Emmett still has big power in his fists, you have to lean toward the far younger and fresher Vallejos to pick up a big win in the main event.
- In the co-main event, we have a rebooking of an important strawweight matchup between top contenders Amanda Lemos and Gillian Robertson. These two were supposed to meet in December, but the fight got canceled when Lemos wasn’t medically cleared. Now that she’s fully healthy and ready to go, this fight has been rebooked. Lemos is coming off a decision loss to Tatiana Suarez, but she is still one of the top fighters at 115 lbs. As for Robertson, she has won four straight fights. This should be a great matchup, with the winner in title contention. Given she is younger and on a win streak, the betting odds opened up Robertson as the favorite here.
