Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 325 Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC 325, we have a rematch between UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and rival Diego Lopes. These two fought last year, with Volkanovski winning a unanimous decision. After Lopes defeated Jean Silva by knockout in his next fight, the UFC granted him this title shot, bypassing other top contenders such as Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy. While Lopes might not deserve this fight based on merit more than those two top contenders with longer winning streaks, there is no doubt he is a dangerous matchup for anyone, including Volkanovski, and he certainly has a puncher’s chance in this rematch, with the opening odds very close.
- In the co-main event, Benoit Saint Denis battles Dan Hooker. Saint Denis was arguably the comeback fighter of the year in 2025, as he went 3-0 with three finishes after losing both of his fights by knockout in 2024. As for Hooker, he only fought once last year, losing by submission to top contender Arman Tsarukyan. While there is certainly no shame at all losing to Tsarukyan, it’s not like things will get any easier when Hooker takes on Saint Denis here, and that’s why Saint Denis is a big favorite.
