Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 322 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 322 sees the UFC welterweight title on the line between champion Jack Della Maddalena and challenger Islam Makhachev. Della Maddalena is 8-0 in the UFC, he is coming off a big upset win over former champion Belal Muhammad earlier this year at UFC 315. As for Makhachev, he gave up the UFC lightweight belt after going 16-1 in the weight class, including a 15-fight win streak and four title defenses. He now moves up to welterweight to try and win a second belt. As good a fighter as Della Maddalena is, you have to lean towards the long-time lightweight champion Makhachev to win a second belt.
- In the co-main event, we have the UFC women’s flyweight title on the line between champion Valentina Shevchenko and challenger Weili Zhang. Shevchenko is one of the greatest women’s MMA fighters of all time, and she is coming off back-to-back wins over Manon Fiorot and Alexa Grasso in her last two bouts. As for Zhang, she gave up the women’s strawweight title to try to win a second belt at flyweight. Zhang is also one of the best women’s fighters of all time, and this fight between two legends of the sport is going to be amazing regardless of who gets their hand raised.
