Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 315 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 315, the UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, puts his title on the line when he battles Jack Della Maddalena. Muhammad has won his last six fights in a row, and he is unbeaten over his last 11 fights. As for Maddalena, he has gone a perfect 7-0 so far inside the Octagon. This should be a fantastic fight between two great fighters, but given that Muhammad is the champion and has fought a much higher level of competition, it makes a lot of sense that he has opened up as the clear betting favorite for this championship fight.
- In the co-main event, UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko puts her title on the line when she battles Manon Fiorot. Shevchenko won her belt back last year when she defeated Alexa Grasso in their trilogy fight. As for Fiorot, she is a perfect 7-0 in the UFC and last defeated Erin Blanchfield in a rout. This figures to be a competitive fight between the two best women’s flyweights in the UFC, but at the same time, it’s a tad bit surprising to see Shevchenko open up as the betting underdog in this fight since she is the champion, so there could be some dog value on her.
