Opening Betting Odds for LFA 179: Neto vs. Antunes

LFA-179-Neto-Antunes

LFA 179: Neto vs. Antunes takes place on Saturday, March 23 at Arena 1 at Parque Olimpico in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the betting odds for the event, and MMAOB staff writer Adam Martin takes a look at the opening odds below.

LFA 179 Odds

Geraldo Neto -450
Vanilto Antunes +350

Jose Delano -400
Alan Villalba +300

Natalia Alves de Lima -150
Yasmin Castanho +120

Richard Martins -150
Augusto Matias +120

Joao Moraes -500
Esteferson da Silva +375

Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 179:

  • The main event features LFA welterweight champion Geraldo Neto putting his 170 lbs title on the line when he takes on Vanilto Antunes. Neto won the vacant belt in his last fight at LFA 166 last year when he won a five-round decision to improve to 2-0 in the LFA cage. He is currently riding a six-fight win streak heading into this fight, so he has plenty of momentum behind him right now. As for Antunes, this is his LFA debut after having won his last two fights in a row, including a TKO win over UFC veteran Wendell Oliveira in his last fight. Although Antunes looks like a solid fighter too, Neto is the champ and deserves to be the clear favorite here.
  • The co-main event sees Jose Delano take on Aln Villalba at featherweight. Delano has a 4-1 record in LFA so he has been doing very well in the promotion over the last few years. As for Villalba, he is making his LFA debut in this fight after having won his last five fights in a row. Once again, given how much experience Velano has in this bout, he should be the favorite.
