Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 60:

  • At lightweight, we have Dylan Salvador taking on Bolaji Oki. Salvador is coming off two straight wins in this fight and he actually landed a rare Von Flue Choke in his last fight to pique the interest of the UFC matchmakers. He is a former GLORY kickboxer and he even fought Giga Chikadze once in kickboxing, beating him by decision in 2017. Oki has won his last seven fights in a row and he scored a brutal knockout in his last match. Both of these fighters are Europeans who aren’t well-known to the North American audience, but both men have a lot of talent. You have to lean towards Salvador, but Oki is of course a live dog here as well.
  • Also on the docket is a heavyweight bout between Thomas Petersen and Chandler Cole. Petersen is the former LFA heavyweight champion and he has been on the radar of the UFC matchmakers for a long time. He is finally getting his chance to be in the UFC, and if he can win this fight, he will get a chance to fight at the sport’s highest level. As for Cole, he is a former Ultimate Fighter participant who is also looking to get a shot in the UFC. While Cole has knockout power, Petersen’s wrestling should be able to help him dominate this fight.
