UFC 290: Volkanovski vs. Rodriguez takes place on Saturday, July 8 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the betting odds for the event, and MMAOB staff writer Adam Martin takes a look at the opening odds below.

Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 290:
- The main event of UFC 290 is a featherweight title unification bout between the champion Alexander Volkanovski and interim champ Yair Rodriguez. Volkanovski lost his last fight, but it was up a weight class against Islam Makhachev, and many fans even believe he won the fight. He’s never lost in the UFC at featherweight, and as such, he’s a big favorite here against Rodriguez. Although Rodriguez is coming off of a huge win over Josh Emmett in his last fight by finish, Volkanovski is undoubtedly the hardest fight for anyone in the 145 lbs division. Rodriguez is skillful enough he’s a live dog here, but you have to heavily favor Volkanovski.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a trilogy bout between Brandon Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja, who beat Moreno in the UFC by decision and on TUF in an exhibition bout by submission. This third fight, then, will be for all the marbles between these two flyweight stars. Moreno is the betting favorite due to all of the improvements that he’s made, but don’t count out Pantoja. At first glance, this fight appears to be a lot closer than the betting odds suggest.
