Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Kansas City Opening Odds:

  • Heading this UFC Kansas City card is a five-round featherweight bout between former champ Max Holloway and rising star Arnold Allen. Holloway lost his last fight, but it was against the current champion Alexander Volkanovski. Prior to that, Holloway had beaten Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez, proving he is still a top fighter in the weight class. As for Allen, he has won 10 straight fights and he could very well emerge as a title contender with a win over Holloway. Allen is a real mystery here given this is a big step up in competition for him. That being said, he has never lost in the UFC and he makes an intriguing live dog here against Holloway.
  • Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Billy Quarantillo and Edson Barboza. Quarantillo is coming off of a huge TKO win over Alexander Hernandez in his last fight in the biggest career win to date. As for Barboza, he has lost two straight fights to Bryce Mitchell and Giga Chikadze. Given the perception that Barboza is on the downside of his career, Quarantillo is the betting favorite here which makes sense given Barboza’s fall from grace.
