Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 112:

  • The thing to note about this card is that there is a one-night welterweight tournament going on to crown the promotion’s new champion at 170lbs. We don’t see these sorts of one-night tournaments very often in MMA anymore, especially not in a fight promotion as big as LFA, so this should be a lot of fun to watch. There are certainly a number of interesting prospects to watch out for on this card and the winner of this tournament will no doubt be someone who gets onto the UFC radar immediately. In fact, even though this tournament is going to crown a new champion at 170lbs, it’s possible they won’t hold the belt long if the UFC comes calling.
  • One fight worth talking about is the co-main event between Carlos Augusto da Silva and Otto Rodrigues. The 27-year-old Da Silva has won his past 17 straight fights and he appears to be on the verge of making it to one of the big promotions should he win this tournament. As for Rodrigues, he has won his last 11 fights in a row. However, he is coming off of a four-year layoff which is a huge worry for anyone in this sport. As such, da Silva is the favorite here.
