Hispanic MMA promotion Combate Americas hosts Combate 43 at the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Mexico on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 9 p.m. ET live on DAZN, with prelims streamed live on Facebook. The event features a title fight in the lightweight divisions.
The main event of Combate 43 features a lightweight title fight between Rafa Garcia and Erick Gonzalez. Garcia (10-0) is one of Combate’s biggest shining stars, having fought under the Combate banner six times over the past two and a half years, winning all six bouts with the promotion. Garcia most recently earned a first round rear naked choke submission victory over veteran Esteban Payan at Combate 39 in June. Gonzalez (10- 3) has fought under the Combate Americas banner in his last eight bouts, going 6-2 in the promotion. He most recently earned a second round TKO over Won Sik Park at Combate 36 in April.
The co-main event features a heavyweight bout between Oscar Cota and veteran Aaron Brink. Cota (10-2) had an eight-fight winning streak snapped in his last bout and is making his debut under the Combate banner. He most recently lost via third round submission to Jay Silva at Bellator: Liddell vs Ortiz 3 in November of 2018. Brink (29-26) is riding a three-fight winning streak and is making his promotional debut. He most recently scored a first round knockout against Cody Sons via ground and pound in June.
