UFC Vegas 27 Closing Odds and Fight Results

UFC Vegas 27 took place Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card was headlined by a bantamweight bout between Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt.

Favorites that Won

In the main event of the evening, Rob Font outslugged Cody Garbrandt over the course of five rounds, bloodying up Garbrandt’s face to easily win a one-sided unanimous decision. Font was -128 while Garbrandt was +118

Edmen Shahbazyan started strong with his superior striking against Jack Hermansson, but Hermansson wore him down, scoring takedowns in the second and third rounds and almost finishing the fight late in the third with full mounted ground and pound to earn a unanimous decision. Hermansson was -140 while Shahbazyan was +120

Ben Rothwell outslugged Chris Barnett on the feet, then latched onto a guillotine choke as a tiring Barnett attempted a desperation takedown in the second round to earn a submission victory. Rothwell was -365 while Barnett was +300

Bruno Silva landed a massive right hand to knock Viktor Rodriguez out cold just one minute into the first round. Silva was -365 while Rodriguez was +300

Joshua Culibau utilized his superior striking to win the final two rounds against a game Sha Yilan, who utilized wrestling to win the first round. Culibau’s takedown defense held up in the last half of the fight, however, as he won a unanimous decision. Culibau was -220 while Yilan was +190

David Dvorak made quick work of Juancamilo Ronderos, getting the fight to the floor and latching onto a rear naked choke for a first round submission victory. Dvorak was -500 was while Ronderos was +395

In the opening bout of the evening, Damir Ismagulov utilized his superior wrestling and top control to win the first two rounds against Rafael Alves en route to winning a unanimous decision. Ismagulov was -540 while Alves was +425

 

Underdogs that Won

Carla Esparza utilized her superior wrestling and ground game to absolutely dominate Xiaonan Yan, eventually finishing the fight after bloodying Yan with elbows from the crucifix position. Esparza was +108 while Yan was -128

In the fight of the night, Jared Vanderaa outlanded Justin Tafa in two out of the three rounds to take a unanimous decision victory. Vanderaa was +155 while Tafa was -180

Felicia Spencer ended the fight in top position, but didn’t utilize her superior ground game enough against Norma Dumont, as Dumont outstruck her on the feet in the first two rounds to take a split decision. Dumont was +165 while Spencer was -190

In a competitive fight that could have gone either way, Ricardo Ramos did just enough with clinch, takedowns and decent striking to fend off Bill Algeo for a unanimous decision victory.  Ramos was +120 while Algeo was -140

Court McGee turned back the clock, fending off Claudio Silva’s ground game, landing the superior strikes on the feet, and mixing in some top control of his own on his way to winning all three rounds in a unanimous decision. McGee was -105 while Silva was -115
