UFC 235 Closing Odds and Betting Results

UFC 235 took place Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card was headlined by the best light heavyweight of all time, Jon Jones, defending his title against Anthony.

Favorites that Won

Jon Jones added another title defense to his resume as he out classed Anthony Smith in each of the five rounds. Smith was unable to work inside and land anything significant to alter the course of the fight. Jones closed -791 with the return on Smith +541.

Ben Askren was thrown to the mat and was very close to being finished by Robbie Lawler. Askren recovered and had Lawler in a choke position in which referee Herb Dean believe Lawler was unconscious therefore stopping the fight in the opening round. Askren closed -291 while Lawler closed +231.

Weili Zhang was impressive in that she utilized her size to bully Tecia Torres to win a clear decision for the biggest win of her career. Zhang closed -155 with the return on Torres +125.

Buoyed by a dominant second round, Zabit Magomedsharipov did enough to earn a unanimous decision over Jeremy Stephens for the biggest win of his career. Magomedsharipov closed -305. Stephens closed +345.

Johnny Walker continues to dazzle as he knocked out Misha Cirkunov in under a minute with a devastating flying knee. Walker closed -180 while Cirkunov closed +150.

Cody Stamann was more active, but more importantly was able to get Alejandro Perez to the mat to earn a decision victory. Stamann closed -191 while Perez closed +161.

Charles Byrd failed on converting a takedown attempt which resulted in him being on the receiving end of Edmen Shahbazyan’s elbows. Byrd collapsed to the canvas and Shahbazyan earned a first round victory. Shahbazyan closed -149. Byrd closed +119.

Macy Chiasson pushed forward and landed several clean shots to drop Gina Mazany to win by first round knockout. Chiasson closed -550 with the return on Mazany +400.


Underdogs that Won

Kamaru Usman was able to get Tyron Woodley to the mat early in their welterweight title and was able to tire him out. Usman dominated the fight for 25 minutes to earn a unanimous decision and the welterweight championship. Usman closed +167. Woodley closed -197.

After a wild exchange in the opening round which saw both fighters take damage, it was Pedro Munhoz that dropped Cody Garbrandt. He followed up with punches to earn the stoppage victory. Munhoz closed +137 while Garbrandt closed -167.

Diego Sanchez survived the early storm from Mickey Gall to absolutely dominate him and earn a second round TKO victory to earn his first stoppage victory since 2008. Sanchez closed +200 with the return on Gall -250.

Hannah Cifers landed the bigger punches throughout the fight and in a close contest that was enough to squeak out a split decision over Polyana Viana. Cifers closed +240 while Viana closed -300.
