WSOF 29 Closing Odds and Results

WSOF 29 GaethjeWorld Series of Fighting 29 took place last night (Saturday, March 12, 2016) at the Bank of Colorado Arena in Greeley, Colorado, and it featured some very violent and entertaining finishes. Overall from a betting perspective, two betting favorites won while two underdogs won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. WSOF 29 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje continued his run of dominance by brutalizing Brian Foster’s lead leg in less than two minutes. Gaethje unloaded a series of heavy leg kicks, eventually crippling Foster as he fell to the canvas in agony for a leg kick TKO in 1:42. Gaethje came through as a -290 favorite (bet $290 to win $100) while Foster lost at +260 (bet $100 to win $260). In a heavyweight battle, former UFC fighter Josh Copeland outworked an overmatched Mike Hayes over the course of three rounds. Copeland started strong, but started to run out of steam as the fight wore on, but he was still able to outpace his journeyman opponent to end his losing streak via unanimous decision. Copeland was victorious as a -400 favorite, while Hayes was defeated as a +355 underdog.   WSOF 29 Underdogs That Won In a middleweight bout, Louis Taylor made extremely quick work of Corey Davela, latching onto a standing guillotine choke just moments into the first round, eventually putting Davela out cold via technical submission. Taylor won despite being a slight +115 underdog while Davela was a -125 betting favorite. In a welterweight contest, Chris Hocum scored an upset over the favored Josh Cavan. Hocum got the better of the early striking exchanges, even hurting Cavan with a knee in the clinch in round two and while Hocum started to slow down in the third round, he’d done enough in the first two frames to pick up a split decision on the judges’ scorecards. Hocum was a victor as a +145 dog while Cavan was -155.
