Post-UFC Fight Night 83: And the Bonus Goes to…

Lauren MurphyThis past Sunday certainly was “Funday” with UFC Fight Night 83 delivering an evening of exciting action, 13-bouts in total, seven of which resulted in finishes. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for ‘Performance of the Night’ and two fighters for ‘Fight of the Night’. The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakerss. UFC Fight Night 83’s Post-Fight Bonus-Award winners were… Lauren Murphy and Kelly Faszholz earn Fight of the Night honors for near-three round war on the Fight Pass prelims for UFC Fight Night 83. Faszholz really impressed in her promotional debut, arguably winning two rounds against Murphy headed into the third, where fatigue played a factor and Murphy was able to capitalize and scoring a takedown, advancing to pound and attacking with a vicious ground and pound attack that forced the referee to halt the contest with only five seconds remaining in the third and final stanza. Both ladies certainly impressed with their performances, as this was a type of fight that really had no loser. Noteworthy fight(s): – James Krause and Shane Campbell went to war for three rounds, with each other having his moments and coming close to finishing the fight. It was a very close fight, but Krause was able to edge out a unanimous 29-28 decision on the judges’ scorecards. Some fight fans feel this main card opener should have earned the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. Donald Cerrone earns Performance of the Night for his first round triangle choke submission of fellow “Cowboy” Alex Oliveira. The fight did not last very long, as Cerrone took the fight to the mat, advanced to top position, where he immediately began setting up the choke. It was a beautiful set-up and finish by Cerrone, who picks up his first win at 170-pounds and gets back into the win column. Fight fans know to expect him back inside the Octagon sooner than later. Chris Camozzi earns Performance of the Night for his first round destruction and TKO of veteran Joe Riggs. The bout did not even last half a minute, with Camozzi coming out of the gate firing and doing damage with his brutal knees. It was an impressive outing for Camozzi, who enjoys his first two-fight winning streak in the UFC since 2013. Noteworthy Performances: – Derek Brunson defeated Roan Carneiro via TKO in the first round of action to advance to 4-0 in the UFC’s middleweight division. – Cody Garbrandt defeated Augusto Mendes via first round TKO to remain undefeated and make it three in a row for himself inside the Octagon. – Sean Strickland defeated Alex Garcia via third round TKO to make it two in a row for himself in the UFC’s welterweight division. – Oluwale Bamgbose defeated Daniel Sarafian via first round knockout to earn his first victory inside the Octagon.
