UFC on FUEL TV 3 Odds: Bantamweights Jeff Hougland (+265) vs. Yves Jabouin (-345)

Jeff Hougland (+265) Profile: Hougland (10-4) does not have much experience in the UFC but won his debut at UFC 132 when he earned a unanimous decision victory against Donny Walker at UFC 132 last July 2.  The 33-year-old lost four of his first five pro MMA fights, including a second-round TKO at the hands of current Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez at WEC 6 back on March 27, 2003.  He has since won nine straight fights though, with six of those coming by submission.  Seven of his 10 wins overall have been decided by submissions as have three of his four losses. Yves Jabouin (-345) Profile: Jabouin (17-7) has gone 3-3 in his last six fights between the UFC and WEC, winning his last two both by split decision against Walel Watson at UFC 140 and Ian Loveland at UFC 134.  The 32-year-old former featherweight made his bantamweight debut against Loveland and previously lost to Raphael Assuncao and Mark Hominick in the WEC before beating Brandon Visher via unanimous decision at WEC 52.  Hominick scored a second-round TKO of Jabouin at WEC 49 in a bout that earned Fight of the Night honors. Most of his previous fights before the WEC took place in his native Canada, although he also lost to TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins at the Ultimate Warrior Challenge 2 in Florida on June 30, 2007. Odds Analysis: MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas has made Jabouin the -345 favorite (bet $345 to win $100) against Hougland, the +265 underdog (bet $100 to win $265).  Jabouin is a much more experienced fighter than Hougland, who went a stretch of more than four years between 2006 and 2010 without a bout.  However, Hougland is a submission specialist and has seen six of his last eight wins end in the first round.  Jabouin is more of a striker, as 11 of his 17 career wins have resulted in knockouts and only one has come by submission.  If this fight goes to a third round, Jabouin would also seem to have the edge since five of his last seven bouts have reached Round 3, with him winning four of them.  Hougland’s best shot is to take Jabouin to the ground.
