UFC Fight Night 83’s James Krause: ‘Shane Campbell lacks footwork and basic movement’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 83 lightweight James Krause as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Shane Campbell this Sunday night (February 21, 2016) at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The talented Kansas City native realizes his opponent is a dangerous striker, but he expects to have several major advantages on the feet when it comes time to throw down:

“He brings some traditional Thai stuff to the table in terms of danger. He’s fairly dangerous-ish. He hasn’t finished a ton of fights. I’ve got to watch out for his knees. He got a really good knee that he brings to the head well. He’s got good elbows, just traditional Thai stuff. I think where he lacks is basic footwork and basic movement. I don’t think he fights long. I think he’s gonna have a hard time with me. I really do. I don’t play the inside game much where he’s good at. He’s gonna have to fight long. He’s gonna have to come find me ’cause I’m not gonna be right in front of him like the traditional Thai guys are. I don’t just sit there and go, ‘Okay, my turn now, you’re turn now.’ I don’t play that shit. I think I’m gonna be a difficult match-up for him and I’ve focused on my footwork and movement more than I usually do anyways.”
