Diving into the Main Card for UFC 193

Valerie LeTourneauThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia tonight (November 14, 2015) for the first time in promotional history with UFC 193: Rousey vs Holm. The event will be feauturing 13 bouts in entirety, starting off with Fight Pass prelims at 6:15pm. The FOX Sports 1 prelims will get going at 8pm ET and the main card will kick off at 10pm ET on Pay Per View. If interested in wagering on any plays for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Heavyweights Jared Rosholt and Stefan Struve will kick off the evening’s main card on Pay Per View, with both men aiming to extend their winning streaks inside the Octagon. This is a big fight for both big men, as a win will keep them relevant in the division, while a loss would set them back quite a bit. The betting odds for this heavyweight scrap opened fairly close, with Rosholt being +100 and Struve being a slight -140 favorite to win. After some back and forth action, betting lines have tightened up a bit and sit at a current +125/-135. The next bout on the UFC 193 main card comes in the middleweight division and sees TUF 18 finalist Urijah Hall take on TUF: Smashes winner Robert Whittaker. Both fighters are riding high with a string of knockout victories and are aiming to add another highlight to their reels. Some consider this the most looked forward to bout on the entire card, so when these 185-pounders enter the Octagon, fireworks are certainly expected. A solid contender for the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, this barn burner should get the Australian crowd riled up, even if the preceding heavyweight contest fails to deliver. Hall opened as a -185 betting favorite in this match-up, with Whittaker being the underdog at +145. The public has since backed Whittaker, tightening the betting lines and bringing them to their current -150/+140. Next up on the evening’s Pay Per View card is a rematch of what was arguably the greatest heavyweight fight in UFC history, between Mark Hunt and Bigfoot Silva. They went back and forth for an exciting five rounds of action, culminating in a Majority Draw, the result of which was later turned into a No Contest when Silva tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone. This time scheduled for three rounds, not many expect it to make it out of the first. If it does, chances are they will collect another ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. Hunt aims to get back in the column following a recent TKO loss to Stipe Miocic and Bigfoot hopes to make it two in a row following a recent TKO win over Soa Palelei. After sending one Kiwi into retirement, he may gave a similar plan for Hunt. Silva’s title shot dreams are over but Hunt is the type of fighter who can always get back in the mix by stringing together two or three wins. It was the “Super Samoan” who opened as a -190 betting favorite in this heavyweight rematch, with his Brazilian counterpart being the underdog at +150. The public has since heavily backed Hunt, making current betting lines -255/+235. The co-main event of the evening sees UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk defend her title against French-Canadian challenger out of American Top Team, Valerie Letourneau. “Joanna Champion” has quickly become a fan favorite since dethroning Carla Esparza and she aims to make another viciously succesful title defense against Letourneau, who is currently undefeated inside the Octagon at both 115 and 135-pounds. The Champ opened as a -1425 betting favorite in this co-headliner, and Letourneau was the underdog at +675. The public has since backed the Champion, as current betting lines are -1600/+1050. The main event for UFC 193 on Pay Per View just got more interesting following yesterday’s weigh-ins, where defending UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey stepped in challenger Holly Holm’s face, and Holm answered by pushing Rousey’s face back with her fist. Some claimed it was staged, but I think it is obvious that it was not, especially considering how genuinely shocked Rousey was. The fight became personal for Rousey, so that definitely draws more fan interest. Even I am now really looking forward to this fight, whereas prior to the weigh-ins, I was only kind of looking forward to it. For however long it lasts, I am expecting to be entertained, just as I have been with every Rousey fight. Both women are undefeated, so somebody’s O will definitely have to go in this five round main event title fight. The question most people are asking is not who will win, but how long would it take for her (Rousey) to get the job done. Rousey opened as a -1450 betting favorite in this main event contest, with Holm being the underdog to win at +950. After back and forth action, current betting lines for this title fight are -1435/+1135.
