Bellator 104 took place tonight in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the event proved to be one of the more mediocre cards that the promotion has put on this season, although there were a few moments of brilliance scattered throughout. Overall, four betting favorites cashed while three dogs came through. Here’s a betting recap for Bellator 104 based on the closing results at Several Bookmakers: Bellator 103 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Rick Hawn defeated Brent Weedman via unanimous decision. Hawn easily outboxed Weedman for 15 minutes and will now move on to the finals of the season nine welterweight tournament. Hawn closed as a -175 favorite (bet $175 to win $100), while Weedman lost as a +165 underdog (bet $100 to win $165). In a middleweight bout, Kendall Grove defeated Joe Vedepo via unanimous decision. Grove was the more effective striker, but his lack of takedown defense is a concern going forward. Still, Grove won at -215, while Vedepo lost as a +195 dog. In a heavyweight bout, Peter Graham defeated Eric Prindle via unanimous decision. It was an awful heavyweight fight but Graham at least threw some strikes and deserved the nod, even dropping Prindle with a front kick in the final second of the bout. Graham cashed at -240, while Prindle lost at +200. In a lightweight bout, Paul Sass defeated Rod Montoya via first round submission (toe hold). It was a brilliant debut for Sass in Bellator, and the Brit cashed as a -1100 fav while Montoya lost at +700. Bellator 103 Underdogs That Won In a welterweight tournament semifinal, Ron Keslar defeated War Machine via first round submission (rear naked choke). Keslar moves on to fight Hawn in the finals of the Bellator season nine welterweight tournament. Keslar cashed out at +140, while Mr. Machine lost as a -150 favorite. In a welterweight bout, Paul Bradley defeated Karl Amoussou via unanimous decision. It was a boring fight, but Bradley was more effective with his top game than Amoussou was with his bottom game and deserved the win. Bradley cashed as a +110 dog, while Amoussou was a -130 fav. In a featherweight bout, Rob Emerson defeated Jared Downing via first-round submission (heel hook). Emerson scored as a +120 dog in a surprisingly awesome performance in his Bellator debut, while Downing, a former top prospect, lost as a -140 favorite. It was Downing’s third straight loss.
