Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 118:

  • The main event of LFA 118 is a vacant women’s strawweight bout between Jacqueline Amorim and Loveth Young. Amorim is only 26 and she is already a perfect 4-0 in her MMA career. All four of her wins in professional MMA have come by stoppage, including a 10-second knockout over Megan Owen in her last outing. As for Young, she is slightly older at age 32 but has a similar amount of experience with a 3-1-1 record. She is actually coming off of two straight knockout wins ever since losing for the first time in her MMA career to current UFC fighter Vanessa Demopoulos. I understand why Amorim is the favorite here as she’s the younger, undefeated fighter and by all means a very talented fighter at that. But Young is solid in her own right and this should be a competitive scrap. Ultimately I would slightly lean towards Amorim, though it’s worth noting the public has flipped this betting line to Loveth.
  • The co-main event of LFA 118 features bantamweights Leandro Gomes and Askar Askar. Gomes is coming into this fight off of three straight wins in LFA, while Askar has lost two of his last three fights by knockout. Both guys are solid prospects but Gomes has more momentum coming into this fight. With Askar struggling lately, Gomes is the deserved betting favorite here.
