Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 260:

  • The main event of Bellator 260 features welterweight champ Douglas Lima putting his belt on the line against the undefeated Yaroslav Amosov. Lima is the three-time Bellator welterweight champion and he has been one of the promotion’s top stars over the last decade. He is coming off of a decision loss to Gegard Mousasi last year in a failed bid to become the promotion’s middleweight champion but now returns down to welterweight where he has achieved most of the success in his Bellator career. Before the Mousasi defeat, Lima had won three straight fights in Bellator over Rory MacDonald, Michael Page, and Andrey Koreshkov to show he’s the best fighter at 170lbs in the promotion. Now he takes on Amosov, the undefeated prospect who many people believe is a future world champion. Amosov has won all six of his fights since joining Bellator and certainly has a good chance to dethrone the champion Lima here. Lima is rightfully the betting favorite, but Amosov is a live dog here. It will be interesting to see how this betting line moves given Amosov’s undefeated record.
  • The co-main event of Bellator 260 is also an excellent fight in the welterweight division as Jason Jackson takes on Paul Daley. Given that the belt is being fought for in the main event, there is certainly a good chance that the winner of Jackson vs. Daley will get the next title shot at 170lbs. Starting with Jackson, he is 5-1 overall in Bellator and is currently riding a four-fight win streak that includes notable wins over Neiman Gracie, Benson Henderson, Jordan Mein, and Kiichi Kunimoto. That’s quite a few former UFC fighters on his resume, and Jackson seems like someone who is ready to fight for the belt soon. Before he does that, he will have to get by Daley, and it won’t be an easy fight. Despite being 38 years old, Daley is still fighting at a high level and is coming off of three straight wins over Sabah Homasi, Saad Awad, and Erick Silva. Daley has made a career out of landing the big knockout punch and he showed his big-time power when he knocked out Homasi in his last fight, which was one of the best fights we have seen in Bellator all year. This matchup between Jackson and Daley is a very exciting fight on paper between two underrated welterweights who are one fight away from fighting for the belt. Jackson is the favorite here, but you can never count out Daley from any fight.
