UFC Fight Night 172 took place Saturday, June  13, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card was headlined by an women’s flyweight bout between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo.

Favorites that Won

In the main event, Cynthia Calvillo held her own in the striking against Jessica Eye, and then scored takedowns in rounds 2-5 to earn a unanimous decision in her flyweight debut. Calvillo was the favorite at -150 while Eye was +130

In the co-main event, Marvin Vettori took the fight to the ground against Karl Roberson and was able to tap Roberson out with a rear naked choke late in the first round. Vettori was a -215 favorite while Roberson was +185

Charles Jourdain dropped Andre Fili early, but outworked him in the second and third rounds, both on the feet and by securing takedowns to win a split decision. Fili closed -220 while Jourdain closed +190

Jordan Espinoza utilized his range well and avoided Mark De La Rosa’s submission game to easily take a unanimous decision victory. Espinoza closed -170 with the return on De La Rosa +150

Mariya Agapova controlled all elements of her fight against Hannah Cifers, landing heavy shots on the feet before latching onto a rear naked choke to force Cifers to tap in the first round. Agapova was a -350 favorite while Cifers was +290

Mareb Dvalishvili overwhelmed a game Gustavo Lopez, scoring a whopping 13 takedowns en route to earning a one-sided decision victory. Dvalishvili came through as a heavy -750 favorite while Lopez was a +555 underdog.

Julia Avila clipped Gina Mazany and then overwhelmed her with a huge flurry of blows to force referee intervention early in the first round. Avila was -640. Mazany was +490

Tyson Nam landed a perfectly-timed counter right hand as Zarukh Adashev charged forward, and one follow-up punch knocked Adashev out cold in the opening minute. Nam was -130 while Adashev was +110

 

Underdogs that Won

Kevin Aguilar stalked Charles Rosa for three rounds, but Rosa was able to use kickboxing range and land superior kicks and lead left hands to take a close split decision. Rosa closed +145 while Aguilar was -165

In the opening bout of the evening, Christian Aguilera caught Anthony Ivy and followed up with heavy punches to score a first round TKO in the opening minute. Clark closed +200 while Menifield closed -235
