And here are my initial thoughts on the PFL 2019: Week 7 Opening Odds:

  • The PFL odds are finally out just in time for tonight’s card in Las Vegas. As of this time of writing, there are no odds available for the Harrison vs. Dalziel women’s lightweight fight. Dalziel took the fight on 24 hours notice and will be stepping into the cage against an absolute phenom in Harrison. If odds do open up for this fight, Harrison would be a massive favorite, possibly even -2000 or more.
  • There are odds available for the other women’s lightweight bout between Kaufman and Pacheco. Kaufman has looked good lately and is riding a three-fight win streak since the UFC cut her. As for Pacheco, she’s 2-1 in her last three fights with the lone loss in that stretch coming against Harrison. Although Kaufman is the more experienced fighter and deserves the status of betting favorite, I actually think that Pacheco has a chance to pull off the upset in this one as a dog.
  • The bookies were split on how to line Howard vs. Michaud welterweight quarterfinal. It’s a tough fight to call, so I can see why it opened as a Pick ’em. Howard is coming off of a huge upset KO win over Ray Cooper III but is getting up there in age and overall has struggled the last few years. As for Michaud, he’s actually be quite good since being cut by the UFC as he’s earned a number of stoppage wins, but he also has a couple losses during that stretch. I favor Howard here, but it’s not by much.
  • You had to expect Magomedkerimov to be a big favorite over Curtis in their quarterfinal considering they just fought a few months ago and Magomedkerimov won easily. He may even get the finished this time around, but either way I fully expect him to get his hand raised.
  • In the other welterweight bouts, you do have to favor Cooper III and Franca. Both men have had strong records in PFL and are taking on lesser opponents, so expect them to get their hands raised.
  • Keep in mind the four winning welterweights in the quarterfinals will fight a second time later in the night. The first round is two rounds while the second round is three rounds, which is something to factor in when handicapping these bouts.
  • In non-title action I do favor both Aleksakhin and Loughnane, but the odds on both of them are quite high so there doesn’t appear to be much if any value there. But the favorites should win.
