UFC 227 Closing Odds and Betting Results

UFC 227 took place Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. The card was headlined by the bantamweight title fight between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.

Favorites that Won

TJ Dillashaw hurt Cody Garbrandt multiple times in the first round and followed up with a flurry of strikes to knockout Garbrandt to retain his bantamweight championship. Dillashaw closed -130. Garbrandt closed +100.

Renato Moicano dropped Cub Swanson with a right hand and followed up in the scramble with a rear naked choke to defeat the long time top ten featherweight to win by first round submission. Moicano closed -340 with the return on Swanson +260.

In an even fight after the second round, Thiago Santos took over in round three landing heavy strikes with regularity to a win decision over newcomer Kevin Holland. Santos closed -370 while Holland closed +270.

Pedro Munhoz had Brett Johns hurt at multiple points in this fight, but ultimately had to get the win via the scorecards. Munhoz closed -210. Johns closed +170.

Ricardo Ramos got the best of the striking to squeak out a split decision victory over Kyung Ho Kang. Ramos closed -285 with the return on Kang +230.

Alex Perez landed 84 significant strikes in under four minutes to overwhelm Jose Torres and win by knockout in the opening round. Perez closed -120. Torres closed -110.

Weili Zhang landed more often and with more variety to win a clear decision over Danielle Taylor in Zhang’s UFC debut. Zhang closed -340 with the return on Taylor +260.

After dropping the first round, Marlon Vera had no problem coming from behind to finish Wulij Buren in the second round. Vera closed -570 while Buren closed +395.

Underdogs that Won

Henry Cejudo went toe to toe with long time champion Demetrious Johnson and scrapped his way to a split decision victory to dethrone Johnson and become flyweight champion. Cejudo closed +355 with the return on Johnson -465.

JJ Aldrich got off to a slow start, but out worked Polyana Viana over the final ten minutes to win an unanimous decision. Aldrich closed +125 while Viana closed -155.

Ricky Simon employed a grappling heavy attacking landing several takedowns in the final two rounds to earn a decision victory over newcomer Montel Jackson. Simon closed -105. Jackson closed -125.

Sheymon Moraes had a better all-around striking attack in the first two rounds. He slowed down in round three, but did enough in the first two rounds to win a decision over Matt Sayles. Moraes closed +105 while Sayles closed -135.
