Post-UFC Fight Night 95: And the Bonus Goes to…

Erick SilvaThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) went back to Brasilia, Brazil this past Saturday night with UFC Fight Night 95: Cyborg vs Lansberg. It was an entertaining night that saw seven of 13 bouts end inside the distance. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for ‘Performance of the Night’ and two fighters for ‘Fight of the Night’. The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakers. The post-fight bonus winners for UFC Fight Night 95 were… Vicente Luque earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Knockout of the Night) Luque engaged in a firefight with Mexican counterpart Hector Urbina and landed the fight-ending punch, sending Urbina to the canvas in a state of unconsciousness. It was an incredible performance by Luque, who won his third in a row inside the Octagon, with all three victories coming by way of first-round finish. Noteworthy T/KO(s): – Cris “Cyborg” Justino dominated Lina Lansberg on the feet and on the mat en route to a ground and pound TKO stoppage about halfway into the second round of action. She is now 2-0 inside the Octagon, and fight fans hope to see her competing at 145 pounds her next time out. – Roy “Big Country” Nelson defeated Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva via knockout in the second round and controversially kicked referee Big John McCarthy in the butt following a stoppage he felt was late. Eric Spicely earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Submission of the Night) Spicely pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year with a first-round rear-naked choke submission of Brazilian hometown favorite Thiago “Marreta” Santos. Spicely saved his job with the much-needed victory and hopes to make a run now at 185 pounds. Noteworthy Submission(s): – Godofredo Pepey defeated Mark De La Torre via first-round rear-naked choke submission after hurting him on the feet a number of times during a brawl. Erick Silva and Luan Chagas earn Fight of the Night honors for their battle on the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia. Chagas hurt Silva a number of times but failed to capitalize and finish. Silva’s gas tank — which often costs him in bouts — helped in in this one, as his superior cardio was what really earned him the victory here, with him submitting a Chagas via rear naked choke in the third round, where Chagas had absolutely nothing left in the tank. Silva returned to the win column with the victory while Chagas is winless in two Octagon appearances. Noteworthy fight(s): – None.
