MMA Veteran Recap: September 2016

61f9e7fc98b11beda1f7427d58379565 At the beginning of every month on MMAOddsBreaker, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of September.   September 9th – Fight Night At The Island (Welch, Minnesota) Ben Saunders def. Jacob Volkmann via Submission (Armlock) at 0:17, RD. 1 Saunders has now won four of his last five fights and with the victory, he was able to re-sign with the UFC. Volkmann has his two-fight win streak snapped.   September 9th – Titan FC 41: Damm vs. Faria 3 (Coral Gables, Florida)  Steve Carl (22-5) vs. Jason Jackson (5-2)  Carl had to pull out due to injury Andre Harrison def. Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra via Unanimous Decision  Harrison improves to 14-0 while two-time Bellator tournament semi-finalist Bezerra comes up short in his Titan FC debut.   September 10th – Fight Night 2 (Florence, South Carolina) Steve Montgomery (9-5) vs. Roger Carroll (16-14) Card moved to October 1st   September 10th – BAMMA 26: Craig vs. Fields (Dublin, Ireland) Paul Redmond def. Chris Stringer via Unanimous Decision Two-time UFC vet Redmond looks earns his first win since 2014 while Stringer has now lost four-straight fights.   September 11th – Pancrase 280 (Tokyo Japan)  Tateki Matsuda def. Tatsuya So via Unanimous Decision  Matsuda has now won three-straight fights while So has now lost eight of his last nine fights.   September 11th – Top FC 12: Min Gu vs. Seung Woo (Seoul, South Korea)  Takenori Sato def. Sung Chan Hong via DQ  DEEP/UFC veteran Satao earns his two-fight win streak since 2013 while Hong has his three-fight win streak snapped.   September 19th – VTJ 8th (Chiba, Japan) Efrain Escudero def. Koshi Matsumoto via Unanimous Decision  Escudaro replaced Alex Ricci in this fight (who ended up signing with the UFC back in August) and snapped a two-fight skid. Matsumoto has his seven-fight unbeaten streak snapped.   September 23rd – Brave CF 1 (Isa Town, Bahrain) Masio Fullen def. Abdul Muneer via TKO (Punches) at 4:57, RD. 1  Three-time UFC veteran Fullen snaps his two-fight losing streak while Muneer suffers just the second loss of his career.   September 23rd – Final Fight Championship 26: Austria (Linz, Austria)  Norman Parke (21-5-1) vs. Valdimir Sikic (11-0-1)  Parke withdrew from the fight per Tapology   September 23rd – CES 38 (Mashantucket, Connecticut) Levan Makashvili def. Sean Soriano via Submission (Choke) at 4:05, RD. 2 Makashvili has now won back-to-back fights while Soriano has lost two-straight.   September 29th – RIZIN Fighting Federation (Saitama, Japan) Daron Cruickshank def. Andy Souwer via Submission (Choke) at 4:10, RD. 1 UFC veteran Cruickshank earns his second straight win  while Souwer suffers his first pro-MMA loss. Mirko Filipovic def. Hyun Man Myung via Submission (Arm Triangle Choke) at 2:20, RD. 1 Cro Cop earns his fourth win in a row, while Myung suffers his second straight loss Charles Bennett def. Minoru Kimura via TKO (Referee Stoppage) at 0:07, RD. 1  Bennett has now won back-to-back fights while Kumura endures the first loss of his career.   Is there a notable MMA veteran competing this month that I missed?
