MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday – Poirier vs Duffy Rebooked for UFC 195

PoirierWhile we may have lost Dustin Poirier vs Joe Duffy as a headliner to UFC Fight Night 76 this past weekend, that didn’t mean the fight was dead and gone forever. Poirier chose to turn down a replacement fight against Norman Parke because he didn’t feel it would do much for his career if he won, which was probably the right call considering Parke was on a two-fight losing streak at the time. Poirier’s decision now appears to have paid off as his fight has been rebooked for early 2016: Joe Duffy vs Dustin Poirier – UFC 195 Duffy and Poirier now join the ever-growing list of stacked fights for UFC 195 alongside Stipe Miocic vs Andrei Arlovski, Stephen Thompson vs Neil Magny, Albert Tumenov vs Lorenz Larkin and the main event title fight of Robbie Lawler vs Carlos Condit. The odds were hovering around +200 for Poirier at about the time the fight was scrapped, but the bout is no longer being held in Duffy’s home country of Ireland. Also, Duffy showed some vulnerability by getting concussed so close to the bout. I wouldn’t be surprised if those odds were much closer this time around, perhaps in the +150 range for Poirier if not lower.
