RFA 31’s Bristol Marunde: ‘It’s important for me to just smash this dude’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with RFA 31 welterweight Bristol Marunde about his upcoming main event title fight this Friday night (October 9, 2015) against Gilbert Smith at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Strikeforce and UFC veteran has won four straight fights and he feels he has the formula in place to go out there and make the kind of impression that will earn him an invite to the top two promotions:

“Robert [Follis] and I sat down and had a talk. He said, ‘Look, dude. We can go out and keep winning on these regional shows. We can go out and beat guys all day long and we can rack up some wins. It’s up to you. But if we want to go to the next level, you need to go out there and smash these guys. We need to finish. You’ve got nothing to lose. Fighting costs you money, so let’s go out there and let it hang. Let’s risk more.’ That was a cool conversation. He said you’ve got to risk more to get more reward. So it’s important for me to finish Gilbert and just smash this dude.
