Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: August 2015

In this article I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of August.   Aug 1st – Warrior Fight Series 4 (London, England) Jack Hermansson def. Karlos Vemola via Submission (Armlock) at 2:08, RD 1 Hermansson earns the vacant Warrior Fight Series middleweight title while with the loss, Vemola had his eight fight win streak snapped.   Aug 2nd – Destiny Na Koa 10 (Honolulu, Hawaii) Tyson Nam def. Arnold Berdon via 1st RD TKO.  WSOF veteran Nam snapped his four fight skid and earned his first win since 2012.  Berdon suffers the first loss of his career.   Aug 6th – Tachi PF 24: Summer Brawl (Lemoore, California) Poppies Martinez vs. Tony Llamas  [CANCELLED] Martinez had to pull out due to injury. Llamas ended up defeating replacement Jeff Carson by first round submission. Jared Papazian vs. Jeremiah Labiano  [CANCELLED] UFC veteran Papazian had to pull out due to injury. Labiano ended up losing a split decision to late replacement Ricky Simon. Ulysses Gomez  vs. Martin Sandoval [CANCELLED] Gomez pulled out due to injury. Sandoval lost via unanimous decision to late replacement Alex Perez.   Aug 7th – SteelFist Fight Night 36: Conflict ( Salt Lake City, Utah) Brock Jardine def. Michael Arrant via Unanimous Decision Former UFC fighter Jardine earned his first three-fight win streak since 2012 as he took out , as he took out late replacement Arrant, who filled in for the injured John Heath. Joe Rodriguez def. DaMarques Johnson via Submission (Choke) at 3:52, RD. 2 Rodriguez has now won five of his last six fights, while Johnson has now lost six straight fights.   Aug 8th – WXC 59: Homeland Pride (Taylor, Michigan) Johnny Bedford def. Josh Robinson via TKO (Punches) at 3:17, RD. 5 With the win, Bedford snapped a three fight losing streak while Robinson had his three fight win streak snapped.     Aug 9th – Pancrase 269 (Tokyo, Japan) Isao Kobayashi def. Will Chope via Unanimous Decision  UFC veteran Chope has his four fight win streak snapped while Kobayashi has won 12 of his last 13 fights. Eric Prindle def. Mitsuyoshi Nakai via TKO at 0:40, RD. 2 Bellator tournament finalist Prindle earns his first victory since 2013 and subsequently snapped his three fight losing streak. Nakai has lost two in a row.   Aug 14th – CES 30 (Lincoln, Rhode Island) Chip Moraza-Pollard def. Dan Lauzon via TKO (Strikes) at 3:12, RD. 2  Despite being a 3 to 1 underdog, Moraza-Pollard earned an impressive TKO victory over the UFC veteran. Lauzon has now lost two straight fights by knockout. Pat Walsh def. Jesse McElligott via Unanimous Decision  Walsh has now won three of his last four bouts. McElligott has now lost two straight fights for the first time in his career. Peggy Morgan def. Jessy Miele via Unanimous Decision Morgan gets back on the winning track and hands Miele just the second loss of her career. Luis Felix def. Julian Lane via Unanimous Decision Felix captures the CES lightweight title while also improving his winning streak to three straight fights. Meanwhile for the TUF 16 veteran Lane, he had his four fight win streak snapped.   Aug 15th – Fight Night At The Corral (Calgary, Alberta) Jesse Arnett def. Roland Delorme via TKO (Strikes) at 3:00, RD. 2  Delorme has now lost four fights in a row. Arnett has now won five straight fights.   Aug 15th – XFO 56: Outdoor War 11 (Island Lake, Illinois) Drew McFedries def. Tony Parker via Submission at 2:41, RD. 2 Since being away from the sport for more then two years, McFedries has now won two straight fights by finish. He’s also won two straight fights for the first time since 2011. Parker meanwhile had his two fight win streak snapped.   Aug 22nd– WFC 42 (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) Kyle Bradley (20-11-0) vs. David Bosnick (6-2-0) [CANCELLED]  Bout cancelled according to Tapology.   Aug 28th– Prize FC 11: Rock N Rumble (Williston, North Dakota) Jos Eichelberger def. Lloyd Woodard  Eichelberger has now won three straight fights and since his Bellator release in 2013, Woodard has now gone 1-3.   Aug 29th – Absolute Action 43 (Highland Heights, Kentucky) Oli Thompson def. Chris Barnett via Unanimous Decision  UFC veteran Thompson earns his first three fight win streak since 2010 and susequnetly handed Barnett just the second loss of his career.   Aug 29th – Absolute Action 43 (Highland Heights, Kentucky) Roger Bowling def. Joshua Thorpe via TKO at 1:37, RD. 1  Former Strikeforce and UFC fighter Bowling earned his first win since 2012 and also competed for the first time since 2013.  Thorpe was a late replacement for Eugene Perrin who had to bow out due to injury. Thorpe has now lost six straight fights. Robert White def. Carlo Prater  via Split Decision White has now won four straight fights while Prater has now lost six of his last seven fights   Aug 29th – Title Quest ( Danbury, Wisconsin) Jens Pulver (27-19-1) vs. Cleber Luciano (11-5-0) [CANCELLED] Bout cancelled per Tapology.
