UFC Fight Night 42’s Yves Edwards: ‘Piotr Hallmann doesn’t do anything flashy’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 42 lightweight Yves Edwards as he prepares for his main card bout this Saturday (May 31, 2014) against Piotr Hallmann at the Tingley Colliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The longtime veteran has clearly done his homework for Hallman, and doesn’t expect to be surprised by anything:

“My biggest concern with him is the fact that he recovers so well so quickly. I’ve seen him get hurt, in both of his UFC fights he got hurt, but he was able to grab his opponent for 15 seconds and he seemed back to normal. When I hurt him, I can’t rush it and I can’t let him slow me down. I’ve got to keep him on the outside and keep dishing out punishment, whether it’s enough punishment to stop him or to keep slowing him down. As far as the skillset goes in his game, he’s definitely looked stronger on the mat. He doesn’t put out anything flashy or whatnot, just solid basics, he’s strong with good conditioning and he’s always in the fight. I see the things I think I need to do to capitalize on the advantages I have but I see the things he needs to do. I see the areas I need to avoid with him and I feel comfortable going forward.”
