UFC 170 Closing Odds & Results

Liz-Carmouche UFC 170 took place tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada, and overall it was a fun event that featured a tremendously-exciting main card as well as a preliminary card that provided some decent action. Overall, 10 betting favorites came through while one dog cashed. Here’s a betting recap of UFC 170 based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers: UFC 170 Betting Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Ronda Rousey defeated Sara McMann via first-round TKO (knee to the body) to retain the UFC women’s bantamweight championship. Another amazing performance by Rousey, who closed as a -360 favorite (bet $360 to win $100), while McMann lost as a +325 dog (bet $100 to win $325). In the co-main event of the evening, Daniel Cormier KOed Patrick Cummins in the first round in a huge mismatch that had no place as a co-main event. Cormier won as a -750 fav, while Cummins lost at +600. In a welterweight contest, Rory MacDonald defeated Demian Maia in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 170. It was an amazing contest of true mixed martial arts between two of the best welterweights in the world, but MacDonald deserved to win based on his superior striking output. He cashed at -290, while Maia lost at +260. In another welterweight bout, Mike Pyle defeated TJ Waldburger via third-round TKO (punches). This was a fun fight but Pyle’s experience paid off in a big way as he took the fight deep and finished Waldburger with only a minute left in the contest. Pyle cashed at -165, while Waldburger lost at +155. And in the third welterweight bout of the night, Stephen Thompson defeated Robert Whittaker via first-round TKO (punches). An amazing performance by “Wonderboy” that establishes him as a contender in the UFC 170 lb division, and he cashed out at -130 while Whittaker lost at +120. In a women’s bantamweight bout, Alexis Davis defeated Jessica Eye via split decision. It was a very close fight but Davis landed more takedowns and scored the judges’ nod. She cashed at -150, while Eye lost at +140. In a bantamweight bout, Raphael Assuncao defeated Pedro Munhoz via unanimous decision. Assuncao was the better striker throughout and may have earned a shot at the UFC bantamweight title. He won as a -270 fav, while Munhoz lost as a +248 dog. In another bantamweight bout, Aljamain Sterling defeated Cody Gibson via decision. The two UFC newcomers put on a good fight but Sterling deserved the nod and cashed at -325, while Gibson lost at +295. In the opening preliminary card bout, Zach Makovsky defeated Josh Sampo via decision. It was a fun fight between the two flyweights but there’s no doubt Makovsky took at least two rounds with his superior wrestling/striking and he cashed out at -230 while Sampo lost at +210. In a lightweight bout, Erik Koch defeated Rafaello Oliveira via first-round TKO (punches). Koch nailed Oliveira with a straight left right down the pipe and followed it up with ground and pound for the win. Koch cashed at -480, while Oliveira lost at +423. UFC 170 Betting Underdogs That Won In the only upset of the night, Ernest Chavez defeated Yosdenis Cedeno via split decision. It was a close and competitive fight but there’s no doubt Chavez was the better grappler and when you are on top of your opponent on the ground, the judges will score the fight in your favor. Chavez cashed at +275 while Cedeno lost at -305.
