UFC Fight Night 35’s Luke Rockhold: ‘TRT is pretty much a joke at this point’

MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 35 middleweight Luke Rockhold as he prepares for his main event bout next Wednesday night (Jan. 15, 2013) against Costa Philippou at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.

The former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion is coming off a tough knockout loss at the hands of Vitor Belfort in early 2013, but he’s not going to use testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to help even the playing field.

“It sucks, but it seems like we have to deal with [Testosterone Replacement Therapy]. It just seems like it’s becoming so prevalent in the sport. It’s everywhere. All these guys are just trying to find exemptions and ways to use it, even guys in their 20’s. It’s pretty much a joke at this point. I’m gonna stick to my guns and I’m gonna know I’m a clean fighter and I’ll always be. I’m not gonna resort to taking any supplements of that kind. I get my testosterone the right way, like sleeping and eating steak and healthy foods… I think guys that use it, they know they need something and if you get past their energy and burst and what they have in the beginning, they usually break because they supplement, they cheat, they don’t put in the hard work that a lot of us true, clean athletes do.”
