Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 137:
- The main event of Cage Warriors 137 is a catchweight (177lbs) bout between Matthew Bonner and Joel Kouadja. Bonner is the former CWFC middleweight champion but he lost his title last December. Since then, Bonner has picked up a victory at a catchweight of 177lbs, and he’ll look to do the same in this fight against Kouadja. Bonner is a long-time veteran of CWFC and he is someone who the promotion can always count on to put on a good fight for the fans. As for Kouadja, he started off his MMA career with a terrible 1-8 record. However, he has rebounded nicely since then, picking up seven straight wins — all by stoppage. He now moved up slightly in weight from his normal weight class of 170lbs. Given Bonner has so much experience fighting for CWFC, it’s easy to see why he was pegged as the favorite here.
- The co-main event sees Daan Duijs take on Borgan Barbu in a bantamweight matchup. Dujis is coming off of a submission win in his last fight and he only has one loss in his entire MMA career. As for Barbu, he’s also coming off of a win in his last fight. This fight appears closer on paper than the odds indicate, with Dujis opening up as the clear favorite here despite Barbu having far more experience as a pro.
