Ultimate Fighting Championship returns this weekend as UFC 247 takes place Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The main and co-main event will feature a pair of title fights in the light heavyweight and women’s flyweight divisions.
In the main event, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones takes on the undefeated Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes. Neither fighter has ever tasted true defeat. Jones (25-1, 1 no contest) returned to action from year-long suspension in December 2018 and has gone 3-0, defeating top contenders Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith and Alexander Gustafsson. Jones’ most recent victory was a split decision against Santos at UFC 239 this past June. Reyes (12-0) made his UFC debut with a 29 second knockout in June 2017 and hasn’t looked back, winning all six of his fights in the promotion, including most recently knocking out former middleweight champion Chris Weidman in the first round of their UFC on ESPN 6 main event this past October..
In the co-main event, flyweight champion Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko takes on Katlyn “Blonde Fighter” Chookagian. Shevchenko (18-3) has dominated the women’s flyweight division, scoring a highlight reel knockout against Jessica Eye and most recently earning a one-sided decision against Liz Carmouche this past August. Chookagian (13-2) has gone 4-1 since dropping to flyweight, most recently earning unanimous decision victories over Joanne Calderwood and Jennifer Maia.
