Glory 53 Opening Betting Odds

Glory 53: Lille takes place Saturday, May 12 at Zenith de Lille in Lille, France. Leading MMA and combat sports oddsmaker Nick Kalikas broke the opening odds today and here are the opening odds courtesy of Several Bookmakers.

The main event of the evening will see the Glory lightweight world title on the line as champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong takes on challenger Tyjani Beztati. Sitsongpeenong is 119-30-5 (32 KO) while Beztati is 16-2-0 (6 KO). Sitsongpeenong is currently riding a six-fight win streak in Glory and in his most recent bout defeated Christian Baya via unanimous decision. That fight was just a few months ago, so he’s in shape and ready to defend his belt. At only 26, the champion looks poised to hold the belt for a long time. Beztati is on a two-fight win streak in Glory and in his most recent bout knocked out Anil Cabri. This should be a good fight but it’s hard to bet against the champion, and he’s a big favorite for a reason.

The co-headling bout sees Jamal Ben Saddik take on Jahfarr Wilnis. Saddik is 32-6-0 (26 KO) and he is coming off of a TKO loss to Rico Verhoeven but prior to that had won five-straight fights includng a win over former UFC fighter Guto Inocente. Wilnis is 30-8-1 (8 KO) and he’s lost three of his last four fights including a knockout loss to Mladen Brestovac in his last fight. He has not fought in two years which is obviously a big concern here. There’s reason to believe Saddik has the edge here, and he’s a big favorite for a reason.

The Glory women’s super bantamweight world title is also on the line as champion Anissa Meksen takes on challenger Amel Dehby. Meksen is 95-3-0 (30 KO) while Dehby is 32-1-0 (11 KO). Meksen is on a four-fight win streak in Glory including a notable decision win over Tiffany Van Soest and in her last bout she defeated Ashley Nichols via decision. Dehby is coming off of a decision win over Isis Verbeek but prior to that lost a decision to Van Soest. This looks like another spot where the champion looks to defend their belt, and not surprising to see her favored so much here.
