Fighters to Watch at UFC 219

UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm
Date: December 30
Arena: T-Mobile Arena
City: Las Vegas, NV

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be back in Las Vegas, NV for the final card of the year with UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm. The 10-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m., with the main card getting going on Pay Per View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for these fight cards, all betting lines are made available at Several Bookmakers.

These are my fighters to watch at UFC 219 in Las Vegas:

Cynthia Calvillo

Calvillo is undefeated as a pro at 6-0, and 3-0 in the UFC. Heading into her fourth consecutive main card bout on Saturday night, she will be facing former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza in what will be Calvillo’s stiffest test to date. Despite it being her toughest challenge, Calvillo is more than a 2-to-1 betting favorite heading into the bout, and she is expected to remain undefeated. In doing so, she would be entering the title picture at 115 pounds. Will she be able to pull it off, or will Esparza put an end to her hype train and set herself up for a potential rematch against current title holder Rose Namajunas, who she originally defeated to earn the promotion’s inaugural title.

Mark De La Rosa

De La Rosa will be making his UFC debut on short notice against the veteran Tim Elliott, and many eyes will be on this undefeated 125 pounder heading into this contest. His wife, Montana De La Rosa recently made her Octagon debut herself and earned a submission victory. He is a talented prospect in the UFC’s flyweight division, though Elliott will be the toughest challenge of his professional mixed martial arts career. This should be an entertaining scrap from start to finish, regardless of how long it lasts, and it should answer a lot of questions about the newcomer.

Marvin Vettori

Vettori is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Vitor Miranda and will be looking to make it two in a row heading into his matchup against Omari Akhmedov this Saturday night. Fellow Italian Alessio Di Chirico picked up a second round knockout victory on the latest UFC card, and Vettori will be looking to keep the Italian flag flying high for the UFC with an impressive performance and victory this weekend. I believe he will be a fighter to keep an eye on come fight night.
