Ask Cousin Gabe: UFC 214 Edition

“Ask Cousin Gabe” is an article at MMAOddsBreaker.com where I answer questions from readers. If you would like to ask me a question, regarding wagering, any upcoming fight cards, or MMA in general, please email it to budosophy@gmail.com and make sure to include your name and location.

In this edition, I cover UFC 214 in Anaheim, California.

”Hey Gabe, what do you think about any 3 fight parlays with D.C.? I like the odds and think this could be the perfect storm for him to capitalize after a long layoff for Jones. Any recommendations?” -Ryan, New Orleans

Yes, I do like D.C. at those odds. Three fighters at good odds I think you could consider parlaying are Jarred Brooks, Aleksandra Albu and Aljamain Sterling, all slight favorites in their matchups. I see betting value in all three of them.

”I think the Cowboy/Lawler fight has ‘Fight of the Year’ potential. Who do you have winning?” -Mick, Calgary

I keep going back and forth. For my article, I went with Cowboy via headkick knockout as my official pick. Since then, I have changed my mind again and now lean towards Lawler by TKO. This is a tough fight to call, especially considering fighters are coming off T/KO defeats, but considering Lawler took the proper time off and has been training with Henry Hooft, I lean towards him here. That said, I don’t see value in him at -160, so instead I’ll take the Under 2.5 rounds Total at -110, as I think this fight ends under 2.5 rounds, regardless of who gets his hand raised.

”Give me three dogs to bet this Saturday.“ -Monty, Reno, NV

Josh Burkman (+285), Volkan Oezdemir (+158) and Daniel Cormier (+240)
