Post-UFC Fight Night 113: And the Bonus Goes to…

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Glasgow, Scotland for the second time in promotional history last Sunday (July 16, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 113: Nelson vs. Ponzinibbio. It was an exciting night of scraps that saw seven of 12 bouts end inside the distance. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for “Performance of the Night” and two fighters for “Fight of the Night.” The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakers.

The post-fight bonus winners were…

Santiago Ponzinibbio earns Performance of the Night for his first-round knockout of Gunnar Nelson, snapping Nelson’s two-fight winning streak and earning his fifth straight victory, the third of which came by T/KO. He put “Gunni” out cold in highlight-reel fashion, scoring the biggest win of his professional mixed martial arts career.

Paul Felder
earns Performance of the Night for his first-round knockout of Scotland’s own Stevie Ray. “The Irish Dragon” dropped Ray with a knee and followed up with vicious elbows on the mat that put him out cold and forced the referee to intervene, halting the action. It was an impressive victory for Felder, who has won two in a row inside the Octagon, while snapping Ray’s two-fight winning streak. This was a big fight for Felder, as it was taking place just a week after his father passed away. He was certainly fighting like a man possessed, as if the ghost of his father was in his corner. I think this was Felder’s best performance since his UFC debut, when he knocked out Danny Castillo via spinning backfist.

Noteworthy Performance(s):

– Khalil Rountree defeated Scotland’s own Paul Craig via first-round knockout.

– Danny Roberts defeated Bobby Nash via second-round knockout after being outwrestled in the opening stanza.

– Alexandre Pantoja defeated Neil Seery via third-round rear-naked choke submission in an exciting matchup that was likely Seery’s last.

– Galore Bofando defeated Charlie Ward via incredible slam knockout, and it was certainly one of the highlights of the night.

– Leslie Smith defeated promotional newcomer Amanda Lemos via second-round TKO.

Danny Henry and Daniel Teymur earn Fight of the Night for their three-round battle on the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night 113 in Henry’s backyard of Glasgow. The first round was all Teymur, as he brutalized Henry in every way possible, looking like he was clearly the superior fighter of the two. However, when fatigue began to play a factor in the second round, Henry started taking over the fight, and he went on to win the next two rounds to pick up a unanimous-decision win on the judges’ scorecards in what was an exciting 155-pound scrap. Both fighters will likely drop a weight class their next time out.

Noteworthy fight(s):

– The aforementioned Pantoja vs. Seery bout.
