Gabe on the Street: McGregor or Mayweather?

I hit the streets of the East Hollywood area of Los Angeles late Wednesday night (June 14, 2017) to get the casual fight fan’s opinion on how August’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match is going to play out. Here’s what they had to say…

“I think McGregor is gonna win. He’s just really good. Always wins when you count him out.” -Ellen, Nurse

“McGregor all day, baby. Knockout. He’s taking this one.” Irish Dave, Cannabis Farmer

“Anybody who thinks McGregor has a chance is straight up out of his mind. No chance, bro. Zero. Hoping for a lucky knockout? C’mon now.” James, Accountant

“I’m tired of people talking about this fight like it’s a fight. There is no fight here, but I’ll tell you one thing: McGregor is a genius. One hundred percent genius, that Irish kid. Most people would have to pay a lot of money for a boxing lesson with Floyd Mayweather, but he found a way to make a hundred million dollars while taking a one on one lesson from the best in the sport. At the end of the day, he will be a better fighter for the experience, and he’ll have enough money to buy 20 islands for it. Probably. I don’t know how much islands go for these days.” Nick, Producer

“I don’t know, man. I think it’s closer than people think. McGregor can knock him out early, but if not, he’s probably gonna lose late.” Andy, Unemployed

“Dude, Mayweather is like the best boxer in the history of the sport. There’s no way he loses to Conor McGregor. That would be a joke.” Ray, Cook

“I think McGregor can win, bro. You see what he did to Aldo? I know it’s boxing, but a punch if a punch. He’s gonna be bigger and stronger, and if he lands, he lands, you know? We all know he has power and we know how precise his accuracy is. What he did to Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez is evidence of that. Gun to the head, I would say Mayweather wins, but my money is definitely going to be on McGregor because I feel like he can pull it off.” Chad, Beer Salesman
