ACB 62 emanates from the Express Arena in Rostov-on-Don, Russia this Saturday (June 17, 2017) at 11 a.m. (ET). In the main event, Adam “Primetime” Townsend will look to push his winning streak to four straight when he battles 24-year-old Alexandr Shabliy.
Townsend (17-4) is coming off the biggest win of his career, stopping Factory X standout Marcus Edwards by third-round TKO at LFA 5 in February, despite breaking his rib early on in the matchup. The 28-year-old has won three in a row by knockout and 11 of 12 overall. Shabliy (15-3) had his seven-fight win streak snapped in his last fight, as he suffered a split-decision setback to Eduard Vartanyan at ACB 49 in November. “Peresvet” boasts eight wins by knockout along with seven submission victories, and he has only gone the distance twice in his 18-fight career.
The co-main event will pit Bellator veteran Akop Stepanyan against Felipe Cruz in a featherweight affair. Stepanyan (24-9) is 2-2 in his last four fights, including a third-round submission loss to Mukhamed Kokov at ACB 57 in his most recent bout. The 31-year-old will be looking to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since 2013. Cruz (20-3-1) heads into this matchup on a seven-fight unbeatean streak and will be making his sophomore appearance for ACB. The Santa Catarina, Brazil native hasn’t tasted defeat since 2014 and hasn’t been finished in a fight since 2012.
Also on the main card is a middleweight encounter between Grachik Bozinyan and Jonas Billstein. Bozinyan (6-2) is currently riding a five-fight win streak, with all of those victories coming by way of submission. The 21-year-old will be competing for the second time this year and his third time for ACB. Billstein (17-5) has won four of his last five fights and clearly has the edge in experience for this matchup. The 25-year-old German fighter will be making his promotional debut for ACB.
