MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: Jason Knight steps up to fight Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214

UFC officials announced Tuesday that Jason Knight will now face Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 on July 29th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. “The Kid” replaces the “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung who had to pull out due to injury.

Knight (17-2) has won four straight fights, including a TKO victory over Chas Skelly at UFC 211 last month. The 24-year-old has gone 4-1 in the UFC, with his lone loss being a short-notice fight against Tatsuya Kawajiri at the TUF 22 Finale in 2015. Lamas (17-5) is coming off a second-round submission win over Charles Oliveira this past November at UFC Fight Night 98. The 35-year-old is 4-2 since losing to former champion Jose Aldo at UFC 169.

Hector Lombard vs. Anthony Smith slated for August 19th UFC event

MMAJunkie is reporting that middleweights Hector Lombard and Anthony Smith are set to clash on an upcoming UFC event on August 19th.

Lombard (34-5-1) has lost three straight fights and will be looking for his first win since 2014. The American Top Team product suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Johny Hendricks in February. Smith (27-12) is coming off an impressive TKO victory over TUF 23 winner Andrew Sanchez at UFC on FOX 24 in April. “Lionheart” has now gone 3-1 in the UFC since returning to the organization early last year.
