Titan FC 44 Opening Betting Odds

Titan FC 44 takes place Friday night (May 19th, 2017) at the the brand new Pembroke Pines City Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The event will air live on UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Titan FC flyweight champion Jose “Shorty” Torres will look to make history when he takes on bantamweight champion Farkhad Sharipov. Torres (4-0) is trying to become the first two-division champion in Titan FC history as he moves back up to bantamweight. The 24-year-old is coming off an impressive first-round stoppage of UFC vet Pedro Nobre back at Titan FC 43 in January. Sharipov (17-7) has won three of his last four fights, including a unanimous-decision victory against Andrew Whitney at Titan FC 42 where he captured the vacant 135-pound title after Brett Johns signed with the UFC.

The co-main event is for the interim lightweight championship as Kurt Holobaugh faces Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante. Holobaugh (16-4) has won back-to-back fights by stoppage, including a third-round submission win over Yosdenis Cedeno at Titan FC 42 in his last fight. The UFC veteran has only lost twice since 2014. Cavalcante (21-9-1) is coming off a unanimous-decision victory against Robert Turnquest at Titan FC 42 and has won three of his last four fights. The 33-year-old has only fought three times since 2015.

Also on the main card, bantamweight prospects Gleidson DeJesus and Edir Terry face off in what could end up being a No. 1 contender bout for the 135-pound title. DeJesus (5-2) will be making his promotional debut after winning five of his last six fights. The American Top Team product will compete for the first time since February 2016. Terry (5-1) also makes his Titan FC debut and heads into this fight on a four-fight win streak.

Welterweight Robert Turnquest will look to bounce back from his loss to Gesias Cavalcante when he battles Marc Stevens. Turnquest (7-3) will try to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. Stevens (21-10) has won five of his last six fights and boasts eight wins by knockout. The 31-year-old has fought the likes of Paul Felder, Luis Palomino and CES lightweight champion Luis Felix. Stevens was also a cast member on Season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Rounding out the main card is Combat Club product Demarques Jackson battling Paulo Silva. Jackson (5-1) is coming off a third-round TKO loss to Raush Manfio at Titan FC 41, which was the first setback of his career. The loss snapped his five-fight win streak. Silva (5-4) hasn’t competed since April 2015, and he has lost two of his last three fights. The 29-year-old will be making his Titan FC debut.
