Fights to Avoid Betting for Bellator 162

ChaseGormleyUFCV1_1771Bellator 162: Shlemenko vs Grove Date: October 21, 2016 Arena: FedEx Forum City: Memphis, TN Bellator is back tonight with Bellator 162: Shlemenko vs Grove. The four fight main card is set to kick off on Spike TV at 9pm ET, with preliminary action preceding it on the promotion’s website at 6:45pm. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakers. My Fights to AVOID betting are: Middleweight bout: AJ Matthews (+155) vs Hisako Kato (-165) Gabe’s Thoughts: Strikeforce and Bellator veteran Matthews will be looking to snap a two fight losing streak heading into this contest against the Japanese fighter. Kato will be looking to extend his winning streak to two in this “winner vs loser” match-up in the Bellator 185-pound division. He is 2-1 under the Bellator banner, with a first round knockout loss to Melvin Manhoef sandwiched between knockout wins over Joe Schilling and Yuta Watanabe. I do agree with the current betting odds, with Kato being a -165 favorite. I think he should be in the -160 to -170 range, so I believe the current line is quite accurate, which means that I don’t see any value in Kato to pull the trigger on a wager. Ultimately, this will have to be a fight I avoid at the sportsbook this evening. Gabe’s Call: Kato by T/KO (strikes, 1:17 round 2) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Heavyweight bout: Bobby Brents (+160) vs Chase Gormley (-195) Gabe’s Thoughts: Brents will be looking to extend his three fight winning streak to four here in his Bellator debut against Gormley, who is coming off a split decision victory over UFC veteran Joey Beltran and is looking to make it two in a row for himself inside the Bellator cage. I lean with Gormley to get his hand raised in this contest, but at these odds, I think it is a “dog or pass” situatin, and I am going to end up having to pass on this one. Gabe’s Call: Gormley by T/KO (punches, 0:13 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
