Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: October 2016

In this article I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of October.   October 1st – Fight Nights Global 52 (Nizhnevartovsk, Russia) Mikhail Mokhnatkin def. Fábio Maldonado via Unanimous decision  UFC veteran Maldonado has now lost three straight fights while Mkhnatkin remains undefeated in his career. Ariane Lipski def. Sheila Gaff via Knockout (Punches) at 2:09, RD. 1 Lipski improves her winning streak to six in a row while UFC vet Gaff has now lost three of her last four fights.   October 1st – KSW 36: Trzy Korony (Gora, Poland) Michal Materia def. Rousimar Palhares via KO (Punch) at 1:27, RD. 2 Materia has now won five of his last six fights while former WSOF welterweight champion Palhares has now lost back-to-back fights. Tomasz Narkun def. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO (Punches) at 4:38, RD. 1  Narkun pushes his winning streak to four in a row, while Sokoudjou has now lost three of his last four fights.   October 1st – EuroFC 01: Espoo (Espoo, Finland) Tom Niinimaki def. Jonathan Brookins via Unanimous Decision  Niinimaki snaps a three-fight losing streak while Brookins (who was a late replacement for Johnny Bedford) has lost back-to-back fights.   October 1st – Absolute Championship Berkut 47: Breaveheart (Glasgow, Scotland) Robert Whiteford def. Kevin Petshi via Unanimous Decision  Whiteford earns his first win since UFC release while Petshi drops to 2-3 in his last five fights. Soso Nizharadze def. Mike Wilkinson via Unanimous Decision  Nizharadze (who replaced David Teymer)  has now won two-straight fights while former UFC featherweight Wilkinson has dropped back-to-back outings. Norman Parke def. Andrew Fisher via Unanimous Decision Parke gets back on the winning track and earns his first win since his UFC release, while Fisher has his two-fight win streak snapped. Saul Rogers def. Michael Adalena via Submission (Choke) at 2:33, RD. 1  TUF 22 contestant Rogers has now won six-straight fights while Adalena has dropped four of his last six bouts.   October 1st – KC Fighting Alliance 20: Fight For The Cure Anthony Gutierrez (7-3) vs. Jimmy Flick (7-2)  Bout cancelled per Tapology October 1st – Fight Night 2 (Florence, South Carolina) Steve Montgomery def. Roger Carroll via TKO at 2:16, RD. 1  UFC vet Montgomery has won two of his last three fights while Carroll meanwhile has lost four fights in a row.   October 2nd – Pancrase 281 (Tokyo, Japan)  Satoru Kitaoka def. Leonardo Mafra via Submission (Leglock) at 1:05, RD. 1  Kitaoka has now won seven of his last eight fights while, Mafra has now lost three of his last five. Nazareno Malegarie (31-4) vs. Guy DeLumeau (21-11-3)  UFC and Bellator vet Malegaire earns his third win in a row, while DeLumeau has dropped to 3-4 in his last seven bouts.   October 4th – Akhmat Fight Show: Grand Prix Akhmat 2016 Finals (Gronzy, Russia) Salman Zhamaldaev def. Frodo Khasbulaev via Unanimous Decision  Zhamaldaev has now won 13-fights in a row, while Bellator veteran Khasbulaev drops to 2-2 in his last four fights.   October 8th – Superior Challenge 14 (Stockholm, Sweden) David Bielkheden (22-12) vs. Daniel Acacio (30-18) Bout cancelled per Tapology Papy Abedi def. Bruno Carvalho via TKO, RD. 1  Former UFC middleweight Abedi earned his first win since 2013, while Carvalho drops to is 1-5 in his last six fights.   October 8th – Hugs Combat 2: Fight Night (Sao Paulo, Brazil) Elias Silverio (12-3) vs. Rene Pessoa (13-4)  Bout cancelled per Tapology   October 14th – Legacy FC 61; Peterson vs. De La Rosa Damon Jackson def. Levi Mowles via Unaninmous Decision Two-time UFC veteran Jackson earns his first win since 2014, while late replacement Mowles loses for the first time in his career.   October 14th – Combate Americas 9: Empire Rising (Verona, New York)  Julian Marquez def. Matt Hamill via TKO (Punches) at 1:22, RD. 1  Marquez has now won back-to-back fights while Hamill loses for the fourth time in a row.   October 15th – Cage Warriros 79 (Newport, Wales)  Che Mills (16-8) vs. Lewis Long (12-4)  Bout cancelled per Tapology.   October 21st – M-1 Challenge 71 (St. Petersburg, Russia) Viktor Nemkov def. Attila Vegh via Unanimous Decision  Veigh has now lost four-straight fights while Nemkov has now won five of his last six fights.   October 22nd – Troa FC 1 (Fortaleza, Brazil) Valmir Lázaro (14-4) vs. Iamik Furtado (2-1)  Bout cancelled per Tapology   October 22nd – Absolute Championship Berkut 48: The Rematch (Moscow, Russia)  Benny Alloway def. Sergey Khandozhko via Submission (Choke) at 3:09, RD. 3 Three time UFC vet Alloway earns his fifth win in his last six fights while Khandozhko drops to is 2-3 in his last five fights. Mukhamed Berkhamov def. Jesse Taylor via Submission (Armlock) at 1:29, RD. 1 Berkhamov keeps his unblemished record in tact with his 10th straight win while Taylor has now lost three of his last four fights.   October 28th – Cage Legacy Fighting Championship 1 (Droheda, Ireland)  Norman Parke (21-5-1) vs. Declan Dalton (6-1) Bout cancelled per Tapology   October 28th – Z Promotions: Fight Night Medicine Hat 2 (Medicine Hat, Alberta)  Johnny Bedford (22-12-1) vs. Jesse Arnett (11-4) Bout cancelled due to a Bedford injury. Joe Riggs def. Cody McKenzie via TKO (Submission to Strikes) at 1:51, RD. 1  Riggs earns his first win since his UFC release earlier this year while McKenzie has now lost six of his last seven fights. Kyle Nelson def. Jonathan Brookins  via Unanimous Decision  Nelson has now won  9 of his last 10 fights, while Brookins competed for the second time this month and drops to 2-4 since his UFC release. Nicolae Cury def. Roger Bowling via Submission (Armbar) at 3:38, RD. 1  Cury (a late replacement for Vik Grujic who had Visa issues) earns back to back wins while Bowling has now lost two of his last three fights.   Is there a notable MMA veteran competing this month that I missed?
