Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Oklahoma City Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Oklahoma City, former UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis takes on former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Du Plessis has not fought since last August when he lost his title to Khamzat Chimaev in a one-sided affair at UFC 319. As for Usman, he has not fought since last June at UFC Atlanta when he won a dominant decision over Joaquin Buckley. This fight is at middleweight, which should give du Plessis the edge as the bigger, stronger man who has already proven that he is among the best in the world at 185 lbs. That’s why he is the favorite to win this fight.
- In the co-main event, we have Jared Cannonier taking on Christian Leroy Duncan. Cannonier is coming off a decision loss to Michael Page, but at 42 years of age, he is still a dangerous fighter, and you can’t count him out of winning this bout. As for Duncan, he has won four straight fights and has been looking like a future middleweight champ. That’s why he is the favorite to get his hand raised in this bout despite Cannonier’s championship experience in the middleweight division.
